Killer late seventies early eighties piece from Loris Azzaro that would have been at home at Studio 54. Azzaro was a worn on a regular basis by such beauties as Raquel Welch and Sophia Loren - bombshells in other worlds. When I first saw this I almost passed it by - on the hanger is does not look like it will fall properly on the body and the proportions look off. However, once on a body it transforms (as all the best clothing does) into this wicked little plunging dress that still has strong lines, but ones that work and it is so sexy. Few pieces I have seen are plunged that far and have that strong a shoulder - it is like he took all the stereotypes of power and sex and dramatically emphasized them! Made of a slinky black jersey, the skirt has lots of movement while clinging to your curves and it falls to the floor in a swish of fabric. The low waist and hip is emphasized with wide gathered banding. The shoulders are insane with strong shape and padding. The front is of course the main attraction on this one and that dramatic plunge is edged with a series of glittering rhinestones that further emphasize the line to the waist and below. Amazing! Excellent condition.
The skirt has an inner black jersey skirt that serves as its lining and the bodice is unlined. It closes with a series of wide spaced fabric covered buttons to the waist and a back metal and nylon zipper below that. Padded shoulders
